Hi, This is Larry and I would like to welcome you to zone4garden.com

Wow the years go by. It seems just like yesterday, my mom telling me. “Go weed the garden before you go” -but I wanted to go fishing so ….bad! But I was fighting a losing battle. If I wanted a ride fishing I would weed the garden. And weed the garden I did.

It seemed like I hated the garden back in those days and wanted nothing to do with it. That is except for eating the food that came out of it.

I don’t know why it happened or how. But boy did things change.

It was the middle of January and I had purchased my first house the summer before. It included 2 acres of cleared property. A light bulb came on in my head. Plant a garden. I thought am I crazy- I hate gardening !

Well I did it anyway. I had a plan. Plant an acre and if I am terrible at it I am bound to get at least enough for the table.

I purchased some grow lights and grew all my own plants. I was really getting into it. I hadn’t even planted the garden yet and I was hooked.

Gardening in the north country is tough. I remember it was the end of April and the nights were still very cold. Because I started my plants so early they were getting quite large and I was in a hurry to get them out. The days went by and the garden got planted. That one acre that I thought should be enough for the table-produced so much I couldn’t even give It all away. Well 35 years later after planting many gardens, fruit trees and berry bushes over the years I’m still at it. I hope you enjoy zone4garden. Any comments or stories you have are welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks for visiting my Blog.

I seem to have the best luck here with Galaxy and North Star. I favor Galaxy because it produces nice fruit year after year, very consistant and the fruit are nice size.
For sweet cherries Christian and Royal can be grown if you live very close to the like. The Royal an seems to do the best for me.
